Outstanding Cliff, late to this thread and well done to you. Beautiful home and I would like to see the finished product!

Wife had her place painted in 2014, amazingly is still looking fairly decent with all the rain we get. Cambodia the same too?  I am not getting any younger, and am finding the stairs getting up to my "man cave" and the master bedroom alot more a pain in the ass these days.It is alot easier coming down, then going up right?  I am sure like most of us the Thais have all things "lacquered up" for the full shine, which does look nice but......I have fallen on my ass more then a few times here coming down.

I have suggested to the lovely one, perhaps we can just go with a different type of "sealant" just for the stairs that is a bit more stable?  That did not go over well.

More then ever, I need my fellow brothers for help here LOL!

That staircase looks deadly!

The outbuilding what is it actually for? I notice you have table and chairs near front door so not used for sitting outside. does the wife and friends eat out there on floor?

Got the trash can in Makro lol and we use it to collect the plastic bottles for recycling. I already said to wifey i ain't going anywhere, how about you (her) ? needless to say she expressed her love for me in true Thai style, with a sniff kiss lol

The painting team have already picked up new work from a couple of our Thai neighbours, good for them.

Again geat job Cliff. Are all the lots in the neighborhood that big, or did you get an end unit that allows for a little more room? It appears in the one pic that you have no neighbors on one side right?

Ahhhhhhhhhh you are alright mate lol, i was confused as the staircase comment i presume was in reference to Yessongs post and the rest was in relation to my post. In answer to my part of your post the outbuilding is our "white elephant" lol, it has a storeroom which you can't see as the door is round the side, a toilet and a small kitchen. We do use the general area when we have a party/BBQ as we lay up the food tables on it.

The chairs and table out the front is for us to sit and eat when we're on our own, its a great place to sit and drink/eat/smoke in the evenings.

Peter, as you can imagine, this is her house so I was not "consulted" about the color scheme LOL! She thought bright colors would look best as it is a bit different from other houses here in the neighborhood. This is one down the block that was recently sold and painted and she thought by having it all just one color was a mistake, you need variety according to her. I powerwash the driveway sometimes....she says I do a good job LOL!

@barsie  The stairs are deadly, don't have a hangover or you will not like walking up and down them LOL!

We bought two plots mate, one for the house and one for the garden. Ya know the Thai way when buying property is to buy a plot just big enough for the house as they traditionally don't appear to want a garden (think maintenance) lol. All our neighbours bar one only have the one plot just for the house and he WAS a farang now long gone, met him once, he's now working in China as a GM for a multinational company, shacked up with a young Korean girl there and if you knew/saw his Thai wifey you'd understand why, she's a fxxking monster lol.
